On January 20th the New Rights leader David Gamkrelidze held a press conference on behalf of the "New Rights-Republicans Political Alliance" to protest against agreement signed on December 28, 2008 in secret circumstances, according which Enguri Power Plant, the largest hydro power plant in the region, will be jointly managed with Russian state controlled electricity trader, Inter RAO.

Women's Club of the New Conservative Party of Georgia was established at the very founding of the party itself, on 15 July 2001.

The Women's Club is and organization pursuing the political course of the New Conservative Party. It was designed to take active part in the political, economic, social and cultural developments within the country and to take care of the physical and spiritual soundness of the generations to come.

The club is chaired by Nona Gaprindashvili and co-chaired by Maia Gegia. The club has its representatives in almost all the regions of Georgia. The club's membership comprises over 2000 women.

The Women's Club is well known for its record of holding charity events in children's houses, schools, and houses for the elderly. It also helps women and teenagers in prison, the sick children, the disabled, the ontologically ill, families with many children, IDPs from Abkhazia, families whose relatives were killed in the Abkhazian war and other socially underprivileged individuals.

The Women's Club has carried out projects, which involved providing libraries of different regions of Georgia with books, free-of-charge medical examinations, various contents whose winners were awarded with special prizes, holding tournaments in chess and so on.

The Women's Club cooperates with many other non-governmental organizations. It participates in the conferences and workshops held by different international organizations.

On a regular basis, the Women's Club holds meetings with its regional coordinators and through them with the population in Tbilisi as well as in other regions of Georgia.

Currently, the members of the club are in close cooperation with the Azeri residents of Georgia and are working on a project called “Summer Camp”, which aims at bringing the Georgian and Azeri children together for vacations on the resort places of Georgia with a view of helping the non-Georgian children to improve their knowledge of the Georgian language.
